Life Technologies Sets Global Instrument Center of Excellence in Singapore

On June 14th, U.S. time, Life Technologies announced on the same day that it had established a Global Instrument Center of Excellence in Singapore to solve the strong customer demand around the world.

The center will be responsible for the design and manufacture of life science company products, including the provision of next-generation sequencing and molecular diagnostic instruments for thousands of customers outside the region and in the Asia Pacific region. The center is the only internal instrument manufacturing facility outside the United States of America Life Technologies.

Life Technologies provides customers with systems, supplies, and services that enable researchers to accelerate scientific and medical advances. The Asia-Pacific region is one of the company’s major growth drivers. In 2011, Asia-Pacific sales (excluding Japan) exceeded 9%. LifeTech's product shipments to the region are quadrupled each day, and order fulfillment is greatly enhanced, reaching 50% in most cases.

The director of the Singapore Economic Development Bureau, a biomedical group, said that due to the strong growth in the Asian market, Singapore’s life science instrumentation industry has rapidly expanded. The new Universal Instrument Center of Excellence indicates that the leading life science instrument companies are gradually looking for Singapore as its comprehensive positioning to achieve the development of local analytical instrument manufacturing and next-generation platforms in Asia.

Mark Smedley, president of Life Technologies Asia Pacific and Japan, said that the scientific community in the Asia-Pacific region is developing at an extremely fast pace. This centre of excellence will allow them to provide innovative technologies more effectively for customers around the world while helping them accelerate research.

The center demonstrates the commitment of life science and technology companies to invest in research and development in the Asia Pacific region. Last year the company opened a regional distribution center at Tuas Biomedical Park in Singapore to increase the quality, availability and timely delivery of its Asian customer product lines.

Open Cell Natural Rubber sheet Rubber foam

Our G5 series natural rubber foam is made out of natural rubber harvested from rubber trees, plant-based and latex-allergy friendly natural rubber rather than the traditional petroleum-based and limestone-based neoprene. Compared to the traditional neoprene sheets, the natural rubber wetusits production process saves up to 80% on CO2 emissions in one wetsuit. And our all G5 rubber plantations are 100% FSC® certified. FSC® certified means that buying your new G5 natural rubber wetsuit does not contribute to deforestation, human right violations or abuse of agricultural pesticides. It also means that the hevea rubber – the main ingredient G5 natural rubber foam is only extracted from plantations that preserve ecological integrity and biodiversity. Though only 4% of global rubber plantation area is currently FSC®-certified, well-managed FSC®-certified forest management has the potential to affect a positive environmental and social transformation of the natural rubber sector.
