Fox Lake 2nd Alarm house fire 4-8-13

This is from Jeff Rudolph: … some shots from the Fox Lake fire that took place on April 8, 2013, in the 38000 block of Hillandale, in unincorporated Spring Grove. Engine 223 was the first to arrive and found a two-story house well involved in flames. The incident quickly escalated, prompting command to call for an Antioch engine and a Spring Grove tender before pulling box 22-14 for the second alarm, which included additional tenders and chief officers, as well as special units from McHenry and Newport. The steep terrain and limited access made it challenging for both firefighters and apparatus, with tenders having to back down several blocks of narrow, winding gravel roads. Initially, there were concerns that the resident was still inside, but he had just returned from the store and found firefighters working to save his home. Crews worked through the night to fully extinguish the fire and conduct a thorough overhaul of the remains. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Here are some photos from the scene:
