7. About Starters:
A starter (also called a self-starter, start motor, or starter motor) is an electric motor, pneumatic motor, hydraulic motor, or internal-combustion engine (in the case of very large engines) used to rotate an internal-combustion engine so that it can start operating on its own power. The starter solenoid is located above the starter motor. The threaded terminal on the left connects to the battery through a heavy cable. At the right end of the solenoid coil, a linkage inside the housing engages the pinion visible at the right side of the motor.
