The Xiamen Machinery Industry Concentration Zone is set to launch the second phase of its Auto Industry City development. The first phase, which includes the Xiamen Industrial Park and the initial Auto Industry City, has already been completed and is now fully operational. According to long-term industrial planning, by 2010, the automotive sector in Xiamen is expected to generate a total industrial output value of 30 billion yuan. Looking ahead, Xiamen aims to become the world's largest production base for passenger and medium-sized buses, as well as a key export hub for automobiles and related components within the country. Located in Guankou Town, Jimei District, the Xiamen Machinery Industry Concentration Zone spans a total area of 4.43 million square meters, encompassing both Phase I and Phase II of the Xiamen Industrial Park and Auto Industry City. It serves as the primary production base for Xiagong and Jinlong, while also acting as a crucial platform for the expansion of the bus industry chain. Currently, over 13 large-scale vehicle projects are in operation, including Jinlong, Jiangshen Frame, Jinlong Limousine, and Jinlong Logistics. Additionally, supporting enterprises have also started their operations. In the first half of this year, projects such as Yuchai Engine and Dongfeng Dana Axle are expected to be completed and begin full-scale production. Among the key projects in the Auto Industry City is the Xiamen Jinlong United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd., a major initiative focused on large and medium-sized buses. This project covers an area of 350,000 square meters, with a total investment of 790 million yuan and a planned annual production capacity of 13,000 vehicles. The project is valued at approximately 6 billion yuan. Today, the facility has surpassed its original capacity and has become Asia’s largest production base for medium and large passenger buses, marking a significant milestone in the region’s automotive development.
