The largest domestic titanium acid sewage treatment plant settled in Panzhihua
On April 9, China's largest titanium acid wastewater treatment plant officially broke ground in the Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium Industrial Park. This significant project marks a major step forward in environmental protection efforts within one of the country's key industrial zones.
The facility is being developed by Singapore Federal International Group and follows the internationally recognized BOO (Build-Operate-Own) model. It will centralize the treatment of large-scale environmental infrastructure, primarily focusing on acidic wastewater generated by the titanium industry. With a total design capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day, the first phase will handle 25,000 cubic meters daily, while the second phase will increase this to 50,000 cubic meters per day. The plant spans 183 acres and has a total investment of 285 million yuan, with the first phase costing 106 million yuan. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of August this year, after which it will begin operations.
According to Xiong Qigao, deputy director of the Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium Industrial Park Management Committee, the park has made remarkable progress over the past seven years, with a complete titanium industrial chain now in place—from titanium slag to titanium dioxide, titanium tetrachloride, and sponge titanium. However, as more titanium dioxide companies have emerged, the pollution problem in the park has worsened. The growing volume of acidic wastewater from these enterprises has become a pressing issue for environmental management. Therefore, building a centralized sewage treatment plant for the industrial park has become an urgent necessity.
This new facility not only addresses environmental concerns but also supports sustainable development in the region, ensuring that industrial growth does not come at the expense of ecological health. It reflects a strong commitment to balancing economic expansion with environmental responsibility.
