UAE develops hydrogen fuel cell drone

According to reports, Muhammad Gadana, a mechanical engineering department at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, designed a multi-rotor drone powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. The drone can stay in the air for two or three hours, with an average life of 25 minutes longer than a normal battery-powered drone, and has an autonomous flight control system that can fly and return autonomously. Currently, the Gardner team is designing a winch system for the drone that will be able to deliver payloads where needed, with a target of 20 kg payload at the current stage, with a final target of 60 kg. According to Gadana, this drone is not like a battery-powered drone that has to deal with used batteries, but instead produces environmentally friendly water. Nonetheless, before this drone is widely used, scientists must find a more environmentally friendly way to make hydrogen. Currently, two methods of producing hydrogen – using natural gas or coal, or using fossil fuels to generate electricity, but Not environmentally friendly.
