Providing solutions for the next generation of travel ZF expands its investment in electric drives

ZF Corporation further expanded its investment in electric drives to build new office buildings and expand production bases for its electric drive technology division. On June 7, 2019, the new office building of the ZF Electric Drive Technology Division headquarters in Schweinfurt was completed, which included administrative, R&D and sales departments. A new electric drive plant will be operational this week in Pancevo, near Serbia's capital Belgrade.

Michael Hankel, head of ZF's board of directors and head of group drive technology and production management, said: "The market is increasingly demanding electric drive system solutions, which has prompted us to increase our presence in the electric drive division. Investing, creating more job opportunities, increasing production capacity, and building a new electric drive factory will lay the foundation for ZF to build a next-generation travel plan to reduce global vehicle exhaust emissions.” Electric drive, vehicle motion control, autonomous driving And integrated safety systems are the four core technology pillars of ZF's “Next Generation Travel Plan” strategy.

Modern office space design concept

ZF's new office building in Schweinfurt, Germany, can accommodate around 520 employees. Built on ZF's Office 3.0 concept, the office building allows for flexible project placement based on projects, making it easier for employees to communicate with each other. “This modern office concept creates a perfect universal workplace. It reflects the transformation of our work environment marked by agility and digitalization. We want to provide a better working environment for our excellent employees.” Jörg Grotendorst, head of the Drive Technology Division, said the €30 million building has 16 test laboratories and testing facilities for testing pure electric and hybrid drive systems and their components.

According to the China Truck Network, ZF's location in Schweinfurt has more than 9,400 employees and is one of ZF's largest locations in the world. ZF is also the largest employer in the Lower Franconia region of Germany. In addition to the electric drive division established in 2016, the ZF's after-sales service division is also based in Schweinfurt.

Establish a new electric drive system production base

ZF is also expanding the scale of the electric drive technology division and the capacity of its two other locations. The new Pancevo plant, which took only one year to build, will be operational. Located 14 km northeast of Serbia's capital, Belgrade, the plant produces motors, inspirational motors and range extenders, inverters and microswitches for hybrid and electric drive systems, and is expanded to meet the huge demand for these products. . About 1,000 employees will be stationed here in the future. Another electric-driven production base is located in Hangzhou and is still under construction and is expected to be commissioned next year.

Titanium Foil

Titanium foil is a high-performance material made from pure titanium metal that is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, low density, and high strength-to-weight ratio. It is available in various grades, including Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V), and Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V), each with unique properties and applications.

Titanium foil is commonly used in industries such as aerospace, medical, chemical, and electronics, where its exceptional properties make it ideal for manufacturing components that require high strength, low weight, and resistance to corrosion. In aerospace, titanium foil is used to make lightweight structural components such as airframe parts, heat shields, and thermal barriers. In the medical industry, titanium foil is used for implantable medical devices such as dental implants, pacemakers, and artificial joints, due to its biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and low modulus of elasticity.

Titanium foil is a versatile material that offers excellent mechanical and chemical properties, making it a popular choice for various industries that require high-performance materials.
