Little Giant's machine tool introduces high-speed and high-precision full-function CNC lathe
Japan's Yamazaki Mazak, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Little Giant Machine Tool Co., Ltd., has recently introduced a new high-speed and high-precision full-function CNC lathe model: the QTN 100-II. This advanced machine will start production at Little Giant this September, marking a significant addition to their product lineup.
The QTN 100-II expands the range of CNC lathes offered by Little Giant, now covering chuck sizes from 6 inches up to 15 inches. This comprehensive coverage ensures that the machine can meet a wide variety of industrial demands, from small precision parts to larger, more complex components.
Designed with performance in mind, the QTN 100-II delivers exceptional speed, accuracy, and functionality. It’s ideal for high-volume production of precision parts, such as those used in the automotive industry. The machine is also well-suited for machining components like car gears and other intricate mechanical parts.
Equipped with cutting-edge electric spindle technology, the QTN 100-II features a high-speed spindle capable of reaching 6,000 RPM. This allows it to handle both low-speed heavy-duty cutting and high-speed, high-power operations seamlessly. The machine uses smooth, high-gain servo control combined with high-performance AC servo motors, enabling fast and vibration-free acceleration and deceleration. The X-axis moves at 30 meters per minute, while the Z-axis reaches 33 meters per minute, significantly boosting productivity.
The QTN 100-II also comes with a high-speed, high-precision 12-bit turret that allows tool changes in just 0.18 seconds. This rapid tool exchange greatly enhances production efficiency. Additionally, the intelligent tailstock, driven by a servo motor, offers precise and automatic positioning, along with adjustable thrust control for improved performance.
To support automation, the machine is equipped with a tool measuring device, which enables full automation in processes like batch machining and workpiece collection using a bar feeder. The QTN 100-II also features MAZAK’s latest MAZATROL MATRIX CNC system. This advanced control system supports human-machine dialogue programming, offering features like interference checking, intelligent safety protection, vibration suppression, and sound alerts for operator awareness.
