ERNI introduces new high current capacity single row cable connection system
ERNI has launched a new single-row cable connector system featuring a standard 2.54 mm pitch, offering flexible and reliable connections between cables and printed circuit boards. The MaxiBridge connector is designed for a wide range of applications, including sensors, actuators, power supplies, and data transmission in automotive, industrial electronics, computer systems, consumer devices, and medical equipment. This compact, miniature connector is capable of carrying up to 7.6 amps of current at an ambient temperature of 20°C, with a maximum operating temperature of 125°C.
The system includes both vertical and angled male connectors, along with a 180-degree cable outlet for the vertical female connector, making it ideal for diverse space constraints. With an operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C, MaxiBridge is well-suited for harsh environments, especially in automotive electronics. The connector is available in 2, 3, 5, and 8-pin configurations, addressing the growing need for fewer pins while maintaining performance and reliability.
The male connector features metal brackets on both vertical and angled surfaces, ensuring strong retention and effective stress relief. It also incorporates primary and secondary latches that meet high-performance standards, enabling the connector to withstand vibration, shock, and high tensile forces from the cable. The latch mechanism can be opened easily without the need for tools, improving usability and efficiency during installation.
MaxiBridge offers up to four different code options, where color coding indicates mechanical differences, helping users identify and select the right configuration. The male pins are surface-mounted, while the female connector uses clamping or crimping technology. It supports AWG 22, 20, and 18 stranded or loose wires, and allows for optional terminal loads. To ensure long-term reliability, the connector components are partially gold-plated on the contact area, feature fully plated terminals, and include double-bar spring contacts for stable electrical connection. The brackets are soldered for added durability, and the contact force is minimized to prevent damage over time.
With standard tools, the cable can be easily clipped or milled into the upper terminal, streamlining the installation process. The lubricated and locked cable head helps prevent corrosion caused by micro-movements due to vibration or thermal expansion and contraction of the contact points. Overall, MaxiBridge delivers a robust, versatile, and user-friendly solution for modern electronic systems requiring high performance and reliability.
