ERNI introduces new high current capacity single row cable connection system

ERNI has launched a new single-row cable connector system with a standard 2.54 mm pitch, designed to offer flexible and reliable connections between cables and printed circuit boards. The MaxiBridge connector is ideal for a wide range of applications, including sensors, actuators, power supplies, and data transmission in automotive, industrial electronics, computer systems, consumer devices, and medical equipment. This compact, miniature connector can carry up to 7.6 amps of current at an ambient temperature of 20°C, with a maximum operating temperature of 125°C. The system includes vertical and angled male connectors, as well as a 180-degree cable outlet for the vertical female connector, making it highly adaptable to different space constraints. With a broad operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C, MaxiBridge is well-suited for demanding environments like automotive electronics. Additionally, the connector offers 2, 3, 5, and 8-pin configurations to meet the growing need for fewer pins without compromising performance. The male connector features metal brackets on both vertical and angled surfaces, providing strong retention and strain relief. It also includes primary and secondary latches that are engineered to withstand vibration, shock, and high tension from the cable. The latch mechanism can be opened easily without any tools, offering convenience during installation or maintenance. MaxiBridge supports up to four different codes, with color coding indicating mechanical variations. The male pins are surface-mounted, while the female connector uses clamping and grinding technology. It is compatible with AWG 22, 20, and 18 stranded or loose wires, giving users flexibility in cable selection. Optional terminal loads are also available to suit various application needs. To ensure long-term reliability, the connector features partially gold-plated terminal surfaces, fully plated contacts, and double-bar spring contacts for stable electrical performance. Soldered brackets and minimal contact force further enhance durability. Using standard tools, the cable can be easily clipped or milled into the upper terminal. The lubricated and locked cable head helps prevent corrosion caused by micro-movements due to vibration or thermal expansion, ensuring a secure and lasting connection.
