The drawing machine system is a high-performance mechanical device that demands precise and smooth speed control. This system is specifically designed for drawing gold wire, which requires even higher accuracy and coordination compared to standard wire drawing machines. The complexity of the system involves multiple motor controls, with four sets of servo motors working in sync. Kinco servos are used due to their strong bus communication capabilities, supporting real-time data exchange between axes, which is crucial for maintaining synchronization and performance.
To enhance efficiency, the internal firmware of the Kinco servos is fully utilized. This allows the drive to perform self-calculations, reducing the time delay typically caused by traditional systems where the controller calculates wire position before sending it to the drive. By enabling the drive to handle calculations internally, the system achieves minimal latency, ensuring optimal performance during wire placement.
The system block diagram illustrates the key components involved, including the feeding mechanism, tension control, speed measurement, and winding process. Each stage plays a vital role in maintaining consistent wire speed and tension throughout the drawing process.
The main control challenges include:
1. Maintaining constant wire speed for the feed servo.
2. Ensuring accurate speed following for the adjust servo.
3. Controlling the winding servo to maintain constant speed (and thus constant tension) as the reel diameter increases.
4. Precise position control for the wire placement mechanism.
To meet these requirements, we selected Schneider’s Twido series PLC combined with a CANopen module, providing the necessary communication and control capabilities.
The control program includes several key functions:
- **Feed Servo Control**: Using Kinco’s speed mode 3, the system ensures stable speed with smooth acceleration and deceleration, minimizing disturbances.
- **Adjust Servo Control**: Operated in mode -4, this mode offers precise speed following, essential for preventing wire breakage.
- **Winding Servo Control**: A feedback loop using a speed measurement wheel replaces the traditional tension bar, reducing mechanical complexity and improving control accuracy.
- **Position Servo Control**: Ensures even wire distribution on the bobbin, using absolute positioning to avoid errors during commutation.
The system has been successfully deployed in production for over two months, demonstrating excellent performance. It can achieve up to 400 RPM when drawing three wires, significantly faster than previous systems using tension bars. The gold wire produced has a smooth surface, meeting all customer specifications. This system represents a significant advancement in precision and efficiency for gold wire drawing applications.

The haul off have two-claw, three-claw, four-claw, six-claw etc. It may choose the saw blade cutting type or the planet cutting type, Meter-measuring and thickness-testing device is optional. The machine group have reliable performance and high production efficiency.
