House fire in Buffalo Grove, 4-6-18

On Friday, April 6, 2018, around 6:30 AM, Buffalo Grove police and firefighters responded to a house fire at 643 Hickory Drive. Upon arrival, officers observed light smoke and flames coming from the rear second-floor bedroom, with all residents safely outside. Arlington Heights Engine 4 was the first fire unit on the scene, having just returned from a medical call when the alarm was dispatched. Buffalo Grove Chief 400 arrived shortly after and confirmed the initial assessment. An interior attack was launched, and the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire. Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control, extinguishing them within 10 minutes. Multiple units were deployed, including Arlington Heights Engine 4, Buffalo Grove Engine 400, Engine 408, Tower 25, Engine 26, Quint 27, Ambulance 25, Squad 26, and Battalion 4. Additional support came from Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, a Barrington ambulance, Long Grove 5500, and Battalion 55. Photos captured the scene, showing thick smoke rising from the structure, firefighters preparing equipment, and a pike pole being used to vent a window. The image of Arlington Heights FD Engine 4 on the scene highlights the quick response and coordination between agencies. Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
