Whether you're working with sheet metal design, visualization, data management, or fabrication, there's a wide range of applications available to enhance and expand the capabilities of Autodesk software. But how do you know which apps will deliver the best results for your business?

This is where the new Autodesk Certified Apps program comes in. Developed by Autodesk partners, these certified applications have passed rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality, compatibility, and integration with Autodesk products. The Autodesk Certified logo is a mark of trust, indicating that an app has been thoroughly vetted and is ready to work seamlessly with your workflow.

The program launched this month and initially highlights certified apps for Autodesk Inventor and Vault. However, this is just the beginning—over time, more Autodesk products and services are expected to join the Certified Apps family, making it easier than ever to find trusted tools that fit your needs.

To better understand the real-world impact of combining an Autodesk Certified App with Inventor or Vault, let’s look at two companies that have successfully leveraged these solutions.

Fluke

Fluke Corporation, a global leader in electronic test equipment, recently transitioned from PTC Pro/INTRALINK 3.4—a system no longer supported by PTC—to Autodesk Vault Professional. Their goal was to migrate without disrupting their engineering and design processes.

They used an Autodesk Certified App called nxMigrator for Pro/INTRALINK from Nexxtsoft to move one server to a replicated global environment, handling 45 seats and 60GB of engineering data. This transition saved Fluke over $200,000 in maintenance costs and allowed them to fully leverage Autodesk Vault for managing their Pro/ENGINEER data.

“I don’t worry on my drive home that a browser update might prevent a drafter from checking in their drawings. We now have a reliable data management system for Pro/ENGINEER that just works,” says Barry Schaeffer, CAD Manager at Fluke.

Nexxtsoft

Elastec/American Marine, a leading manufacturer of oil spill and environmental equipment, is known for its innovation. Recently, they won the X PRIZE for designing the most effective oil recovery device. To stay agile and respond quickly to customer demands, the company needed a flexible solution similar to a job shop that can handle custom requests efficiently.

Elastec uses Autodesk Inventor along with an Autodesk Certified App called FAB Professional from Striker Systems. This integration streamlines the workflow from 3D part models to nested 2D sheet metal files for CNC production. As a result, the company can create prototypes faster, reduce job times from days to minutes, and simplify outsourcing processes.

“With Inventor and Striker Systems, you can nest a week’s worth of work in just an hour,” says Jeff Elliot, Design Engineer for Elastec/American Marine.

In a special podcast for In the Fold, Peter Vinh, Senior Product Manager at Autodesk, discusses the new program and explains the steps required for an application to become certified:
