The groundbreaking ceremony for the Southwest Automotive Auto Parts Logistics Center, the largest automotive parts logistics hub in Southwest China, took place yesterday morning in Shuangliu. The event was attended by high-profile officials, including Tang Chuanping, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, He Shaohua, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Zhao Bin, Secretary of the Shiyan City Municipal Party Committee in Hubei Province. Representatives from major automobile companies such as Dongfeng, Zhongqi, and FAW, along with industry experts, were also present. Tang Chuanping highlighted Chengdu’s strategic position as a key science and technology, commercial, financial, and transportation hub in Southwest China, designated by the State Council. As a major distribution center in the western region, Chengdu is home to a large number of private vehicles, making it an ideal location for the development of auto parts logistics. With its unique advantages, the city has attracted numerous domestic and international logistics firms. The Southwest Automotive Auto Parts Logistics Center, currently under construction, is the largest and most comprehensive project of its kind in the western region. Once completed, it is expected to significantly enhance Chengdu’s auto parts logistics capabilities and further improve the overall logistics environment in the city. Located within the Shuangliu Logistics Park, one of Chengdu’s three major international logistics hubs, the project has a total investment of 960 million yuan and covers 1,200 acres. Over the next five years, the center aims to become the largest, most advanced, and most complete base for commercial vehicle parts and components in the western region. Upon completion, the facility is projected to generate over 10 billion yuan in annual sales, contribute 100 million yuan in taxes annually, and create approximately 5,000 jobs. The project will strengthen the auto parts warehousing and logistics industry chain, accelerate the development of upstream and downstream products in Chengdu’s auto industry, and serve as a key bridge for economic cooperation between Sichuan and Hubei provinces.
