The groundbreaking ceremony for the Southwest Automotive Auto Parts Logistics Center, the largest automotive parts logistics hub in Southwest China, took place yesterday morning in Shuangliu. Attendees included Tang Chuanping, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; He Shaohua, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Zhao Bin, Secretary of the Shiyan City Party Committee in Hubei Province; and members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress. Representatives from major automobile companies such as Dongfeng, Zhongqi, and FAW, along with industry experts, were also present at the event. Tang Chuanping emphasized that Chengdu is a key city designated by the State Council as a science and technology hub, commercial center, financial and transportation node, and communication hub in Southwest China. As a major distribution center in the western region and a city with a high number of private vehicles, Chengdu has significant advantages in developing automotive and auto parts logistics. This has attracted numerous well-known domestic and international logistics companies to invest in the area. The Southwest Automotive Auto Parts Logistics Center is currently the largest and most comprehensive project of its kind in the western region. Once completed, it is expected to significantly enhance Chengdu’s automotive logistics capabilities and further improve the city’s overall logistics environment. Located within the Shuangliu Logistics Park, one of Chengdu’s three major international hub logistics parks, the project has a total investment of 960 million yuan and covers an area of 1,200 acres. Over the next five years, the center aims to become the largest, most advanced, and most complete base for commercial vehicle parts and components in the western region. Upon completion, the project is projected to generate over 10 billion yuan in annual sales, contribute 100 million yuan in taxes annually, and create approximately 5,000 jobs. The development of this logistics center will strengthen the automotive parts warehousing and logistics industry chain in Chengdu, promote the rapid growth of upstream and downstream industries in the local auto sector, and position the city as a strategic gateway for the entire western region. It will also serve as a new bridge for economic cooperation and exchange between Sichuan and Hubei provinces.
