The First Water Supply Summit Forum in 2016 Wang Zhijun Talks about Leakage Management

[China Instrument Network Instrumentation Industry] “Pipeline leakage management is a long-term comprehensive practice system that is difficult to say, and there is no single technology that can solve the problem alone.” At the site of the 2016 Water Supply Summit, the water network Wang Zhijun, chief engineer of Technical Service Center (Beijing) Co., Ltd., sighed. He practiced using water for many years to share how to establish a systematic leakage control system.

The following is Wang Zhijun’s speech at the scene, without my review:

In 2010, Wang Zhijun led a young team into this field. He lamented that like the cold night of the New Year's Day, as in the streets of Beijing, there are very few people in the industry. Six years have passed and now the industry is really paying attention to the leakage problem of the pipeline network.

Wang Zhijun said that in the past few years, there has been a profound understanding that pipeline network leakage management is a long-term comprehensive practice system that makes it difficult to do so. There is no single technology that can solve the problem alone.

Establishing a network leakage system will face several difficulties for the Water Department: First, funding. The second is talent. The third is the lack of an overall plan. Of course, there is a very good Water Division. The plan is very good, but after all it is a minority. The fourth is the independent business systems that have been successively constructed.

Over the years, the Water Division has continuously improved its information capabilities. This is a good thing for the management of leaks in the network with new technologies.

Wang Zhijun emphasized that to use information technology and modern technology to deal with leakage problems in the pipeline network, we must use real and effective means. This is the same place as the hospital system, which is equivalent to a medical file and a management system. Reduces production and sales through various operations and treatments.

Wang Zhijun introduced that in 2010, the water network had just entered the field of pipe network leakage and found that there was a lack of companions. In the past few years, they visited more than a dozen countries and regions and conducted study and exchanges. From learning and practice to communication and summarization, they discovered that There are indeed many things in this market that need to be perfected and need to be practiced. The leakage control system is divided into two areas: an information technology-based application platform like LeakView®. On-site applications based on actual control methods are constantly evolving from the beginning to the present. This means that if a company wants to provide professional vertical services, it must make itself an expert in this area. It must Learn how many new technologies are in the entire water supply industry and how many new inventions can be used to solve the leakage confusion. The combination of the above two can constitute a complete and effective leakage control system.

In recent years, the water network has developed a system called LeakView®. Wang Zhijun introduced that LeakView® is a platform specially designed for leakage leakage management. The main work of this platform is divided into three aspects: physical leakage management, NRW management of production and sales, operation and maintenance management.

Designing such a system is actually moving forward in the iterative process. Leakage management is closely related to the management of the entire pipeline network. LeakView® establishes GIS systems, marketing systems, large-user water meter management, DMA management, pressure management, event calendars, and pipe network damaged accident file management systems based on different stages of development. It is hoped that these systems will be combined with valid data and associated data and used specifically for leakage in the network.

The first problem facing the construction of such a system is data integration. Data integration is one of the prerequisites for poor production and sales management. The establishment of this system is not to build a brand new thing. It is to hope to find out from the Water Department's various data that can help them analyze the difference in production and sales, and find out the reasons for the leakage. Therefore, it will face a variety of data sources established by various companies, and will face multiple brands and multiple suppliers. Each supplier will have its own system and multiple transmission protocols. When faced with these things, it may be found that 60% of the work may be the integration and grooming of past systems. One of the goals of Water Networking is to lay a foundation for future work when doing such a system, to be a unified and open data management platform, and also to hope that the previous users' investments will be fully utilized.

Wang Zhijun pointed out that after integrating the data and discovering data quality problems, we are not data porters. When data is linked, many things will naturally appear. The figure above is a record of the amount of water sampled. Such a sampling of water samples compared with other records shows that it keeps changing, and the user said that should not be the case. So we track where this data changes and find that the same data source will change on different days. The above figure is the change of three times. The user said that he has not found it for several years, but the integration of this data is the most encountered in this system. When the data is integrated, both parties can negotiate how to present the data according to the user's needs. Wang Zhijun said that the leakage control system can not be just a data display, it should provide more help for customers.

For pipe network leakage, the amount of data may not be complicated, but how to use the imagination to bring imaginative data analysis to users is the most needed at present. Because when a large amount of application data is combined, there is an imaginable and effective transmission of information.

Water Networking is currently participating in the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” national water-saving planning project. This project will eventually select 100 cities for leakage management and demonstration cities. The project expert group asked a question as to how large the current DMA system is in China. Wang Zhijun said that this is a very simple matter. Directly drawing more than 1,000 data samples in the current DMA system for management and operation and maintenance can directly lead to such an analysis: In China, the scale of the DMA currently being implemented is 2000- 3000 households and 3,000-4,000 households are the main ones. This is slightly different from the scale that the International Water Association has recommended. However, in actual work, the DMA scale in many areas is probably only a few hundred. This is because overemphasizing "simple" in the implementation process and taking a community as a sub-division, in fact, this method can't really achieve the representative of our DMA analysis of leakage, but it is indeed a reality.

Waternet focuses on and quickly grasps every new key technology application. This year, two new technologies have been integrated. One is new noise monitoring technology that can solve long-distance, large-diameter and non-metallic pipeline leakage monitoring. The other is a differential pressure sensitive water hammer preaction valve that is less than 1 second.

During the process of jointly establishing a network leakage management system for water network and water supply enterprises, the real needs of customers are jointly discussed. No water company's needs are exactly the same. The water network is not just a team of information services, but also a water company. The custom development of managers together is the basis for success, and the joint development of tailor-made pipe network leakage management systems has solved the difficulties of using habits and training in the process.

Wang Zhijun introduced that a phenomenon was discovered when the water network helped a city in the south of China to be a district management system. Several suburban counties in the city were supplied by the Water Group, and during the process of water supply, a wrangling scene was discovered about poor production and sales. In such a special case, the water network engineers took only two days to help clarify the relationship and apportion the difference in production and sales according to the percentage of their respective water consumption. Waternet is now implementing a project with a water supply company in a city in northern China. In this project, we have a large network of zoning and DMA divisions, as well as pressure water supply projects.

In the end, Wang Zhijun concluded that there is no single technology that can independently solve the problem of poor production and sales or leakage of water supply networks. Therefore, it must be combined with various technologies. Water networking is a team that masters and is familiar with various leakage control technologies. , to provide a personalized service model of the water company's business. Water network hopes to take leakage management as a breakthrough, and improve the service level for water supply companies.
