Mazda Motors Selects Site for Construction in Russia's Far East

Geely Automobile News According to recent reports by Russian media, Mazda Motor Corporation of Japan will establish a site in Russia’s Primorsky territory. This will be Mazda’s first factory in Russia.

The Russian Primorye Government announced on January 21 that Mazda will invest in the construction of an automobile assembly plant in the area. The Chief Executive of the Territory, Sergei Darkin, is discussing with the Mazda company delegation on the project in detail. .

According to reports, there are two options for Mazda's local plant construction: one is to build a new factory, and the second is to use existing plants and facilities, and the initial annual production capacity is expected to be 30,000. A spokesman for Mazda Motors confirmed that the company had talks with Sergei Dalikin but declined to give further details.

It is reported that this will be the second time that Ma Tada has considered setting up a plant in Russia. The first plan to build a plant was aborted because of the global economic contraction in 2008. Japanese automakers Toyota, Nissan and Suzuki have already established three production bases in Japan.

Prior to this, Mazda company disclosed that the company has sent investigation teams to Russia, India, Brazil and other emerging market countries to investigate the feasibility of local production.
