On Tuesday evening, Countryside firefighters responded to a fire at 285 E. Court of Shorewood in Vernon Hills. The call came in for a blaze in the third-floor laundry room. Chief 4100 was the first on scene and immediately reported visible smoke coming from the top floor of the six-unit apartment building. As the situation escalated, the alarm was upgraded to a working fire and then to a MABAS Box Alarm to bring in additional units for support.
