In just three years of production, Qingdao Qiyao Wärtsilä Linglin Linshan Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (QMD) has produced more than 1 million horsepower. On February 24th, the company held a ceremony to celebrate the production of diesel engines exceeding 1 million horsepower.

On the same day, the company's Wärtsilä RT-flex82T diesel engine was successfully driven, which enabled the company's engine production to reach a marked 1 million horsepower. This machine is the second of the same type of machine manufactured by QMD. It is also an economical marine diesel engine tailored for very large oil tankers, super large bulk carriers and container ships. Its biggest advantage is high efficiency, low fuel consumption and low Emissions and easy operation.

"QMD's rapid and healthy development is supported by strong shareholders, which is the most effective guarantee for our development," said Hu Wei, CEO of the company. With the technical and management support from Wärtsilä Group and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), QMD is growing rapidly. From the first pile to the first machine in March 2009, the company took only 10 months; it took only 2 years and 8 months from the delivery of the first machine to the cumulative output of over 1 million horsepower; The first RT–flex82T machine; put into production for 3 years, a total of more than 60 engines, most of which are Wärtsilä RT–flex models.

QMD is a Sino-foreign joint venture established by CSIC 711, Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., Wärtsilä Group and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan. It is located at Qingdao Haixiwan Shipbuilding and Repairing Base. The company has introduced a complete set of diesel engine product design, advanced technology and management experience from Wärtsilä and MHI. It has large-scale CNC production equipment and testing equipment to produce a full range of low-speed engines, including Wärtsilä RTA with a cylinder diameter of 50 cm and above. , RT-flex and Mitsubishi UEC series models, and capable of producing models with a cylinder diameter of 96 cm, is one of the most advanced engine manufacturers in China. QMD will be constructed in two phases. The annual production capacity of the first phase will be 1 million horsepower, and the annual production capacity of the second phase will be expanded to 3.5 million horsepower.
