· BorgWarner provides key technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles

To address the challenges of the growing popularity of hybrid and electric vehicles, BorgWarner has recently developed an advanced high-pressure air-cabin heater (PTC) for waste heat independent heating solutions. This lightweight heating solution quickly cools the cockpit with low noise and quickly removes frost on the windshield while providing a stable airflow for a comfortable cabin environment. In addition, the cabin heater incorporates a range of safety features to ensure safe operation in the event of any vehicle malfunction.
Joe Fadool, president and general manager of BorgWarner's Emissions and Thermal Systems, said: “With the limited waste heat, the difficulty of heating the cabin is also increasing. Our high-pressure air cabin heaters are in this context. This efficient heater product provides the ideal solution for a global car manufacturer to create a safe, comfortable and odor-free cabin environment. BorgWarner is committed to developing innovative solutions for all types of propulsion systems, through modern The energy efficiency of vehicles to achieve energy conservation and environmental protection goals."
As part of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, BorgWarner's high-pressure PTC cabin heaters are controlled via a CAN interface to increase the temperature of the airflow from the air outlet. The system uses ceramic PTC components with extremely low resistance at low temperatures for full current flow and high heat transfer. In a high temperature environment, as the resistance of the ceramic rod rises, the current is interrupted, thereby reducing heat release. This design not only perfectly controls the temperature inside the cabin, but also prevents the cabin from overheating and provides a certain degree of safety protection. In addition, this heater is equipped with a heating rod package technology to minimize voltage overload. In combination with the heating rod packaging technology, the air heater fin design provides a low pressure drop environment that allows the blower to operate at lower speeds, thereby reducing air flow in the cabin and reducing noise. The combination of heating rod and fin design makes the PTC heater the industry's first two-zone heating unit that creates precise and smooth temperature and temperature for drivers and passengers while avoiding the installation of two single-zone heaters. Waste.
The PTC Cockpit Heater is a new addition to BorgWarner's extensive range of new energy automotive components. At present, BorgWarner's solutions cover four key technologies in the five technical fields of electric propulsion systems, namely electric motors, transmissions, power electronics and thermal management systems. BorgWarner's eDM electric drive modules and high-voltage hairpin stator winding technology (HVH) motors have been successfully applied to many well-known auto manufacturers.
