The incident occurred at Hualian Commercial Building, No. 343 Nanjing Road East. When the reporter arrived at the scene, rescue work was over and the normal business operations of the mall were not affected by the incident. In the elevator room on the 6th floor of the shopping mall, three passenger and cargo elevators were installed side by side. The elevator where the personnel fell was in the middle position. The elevator door was blocked by a piece of wood, and a construction notice printed on A4 paper was posted on the wooden board. ".

However, witnesses pointed out that no warning signs were set in front of the elevator at the time of the incident. The netizen “@Hani-Qi Yue” said on Sina Weibo: “The building is replacing the elevator, there is no fence, the elevator door is open, the workers remove the scaffolding in the well and the female customer walks in.” Said that the female customer was preparing to take the elevator downstairs and saw the elevator door open and then stepped forward. Unexpectedly, an empty foot fell into the elevator shaft.

The nameplate in the elevator was displayed as “Shanghai Dechi Elevator Co., Ltd.” and was repaired by “Shanghai Zhongxun Elevator Nanshi Sales and Installation Engineering Co., Ltd.”. In the yard on the ground floor of the shopping mall, several wooden box-mounted elevator parts are also stored.

At present, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
