In 2012, the total sales of China's top 100 pesticide companies reached 61.86 billion yuan, an increase of 23.6% from the 50.05 billion yuan in 2011.
In 2011, the total sales of 1,452 pesticide production enterprises nationwide was 138.71 billion yuan, of which, the total sales of the top 100 enterprises were 61.86 billion, accounting for 44.6% of the country's total sales of pesticides.
According to the data released by the China Pharmaceutical Industry Association, the number of companies with sales of pesticides in excess of 1 billion yuan in 2009 was only 8 in 2010. It increased to 10 in 2010, and it rose to 16 in 2011 and doubled in two years.
In the top 2012 list of China's top 100 pesticide companies, there are four top ten enterprises in Jiangsu Province, three in Zhejiang Province, and one in Guangdong, Hubei, and Shandong. Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Group Co., Ltd. topped the list with 2011 sales of RMB 2.14 billion. Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. and Hubei Sanonda Co., Ltd. ranked second and third.
In the top 30 list of China's pesticide industry's pharmaceutical preparations, Shenzhen Novozymes Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. ranked first with 2011 sales of 1.53 billion yuan, followed by Jiangsu Long Deng Chemical Co., Ltd. and Syngenta (Suzhou) Crop Protection Co., Ltd.
The top 100 provinces are still concentrated in Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hubei provinces. Among them, a total of 72 companies from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong provinces, a year-on-year decrease of 2, including 1 in Jiangsu and 3 in Shandong. Among other provinces, Jiangxi, Liaoning, and Shaanxi increased by 1, while Hunan decreased by 1.
