Truck fire in Schaumburg, 6-8-16

On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, just after midnight, Schaumburg Fire Department units were dispatched to the SB IL Route 53 local lanes, just past I-90, in response to a fire involving a semi-trailer. Upon arrival, crews found a 40-foot trailer fully loaded with commercial uniforms engulfed in flames. Battalion 5 requested a tanker from Long Grove and Elk Grove Township to supply Engine 52 with two lines of water. Schaumburg Engines 51 and 54, along with Squad 55, were already on scene and had already used their onboard water reserves. Rolling Meadows Engine 16 and Hoffman Estates Engine 21 arrived to assist with manpower during the nearly two-hour operation to remove the smoldering contents from the truck. Additional support came from Schaumburg Trucks 52 and 53, as well as ambulances 53 and 54. The incident required coordinated efforts from multiple departments, showcasing the teamwork and preparedness of first responders in such emergencies. Numerous photos captured the scene, including firefighters using a tower ladder bucket to cut through the trailer, a Long Grove fire department tender supplying water, and crews working late into the night. The images highlight the intensity of the situation and the dedication of the personnel involved. More photos can be viewed at shapirophotography.net.
