Autodesk is collaborating with Leica Geosystems to enhance workflows, simplify layout processes, and improve data accessibility for its users. This partnership aims to deliver BIM-to-field layout and reality capture solutions that allow Autodesk customers to directly use data from Leica sensors within their design tools. The integration will enable a more seamless flow of information between the office and the field, making advanced solutions for reality capture and BIM-to-field layout more accessible.
“Leica Geosystems is a trusted leader in precision measurement technology,†said Amar Hanspal, Senior Vice President at Autodesk’s Information Modeling & Platform Group. “By combining their high-quality solutions with our leading CAD and BIM software, we’re empowering customers to access accurate, reliable data throughout every stage of construction. The companies are currently exploring multiple technology integrations that will be rolled out over time to benefit users in laser scanning, building construction, and related fields. Here are some of the key features that will soon be available:
**Simplifying BIM-to-Field Layout**
Autodesk BIM users, including those using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, can now perform BIM-based as-built documentation and quality checks in the field through the Autodesk BIM 360 Layout app on iPad. This app connects directly with Leica iCON robot 50 robotic total stations, allowing for precise control and faster, more efficient layout and as-built processes.
**Streamlining Reality Capture Workflows**
New hardware and software integrations will make it easier to view and work with 3D data. Users will be able to import native point cloud data from the Leica ScanStation P16 directly into Autodesk ReCap, streamlining the workflow and helping new users quickly benefit from 3D data capture.
