During the interview with Shandong Rising Group Co., Ltd., it was learned that the company's annual production of 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea through the transformation of aerospace furnaces has progressed smoothly. In the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, including Rising Company, there will be about 20 large and medium-sized nitrogen fertilizer companies that will reform raw material technology. During the transformation of the raw material technology route, new gasifiers such as pulverized coal pressurized gasifiers and new coal-water slurry gasifiers will take on the responsibility.

It is understood that China's nitrogen fertilizer industry currently uses intermittent fixed bed coal gasification technology. This technology has high energy consumption, heavy pollution, and strict requirements on raw materials. Due to the adoption of this technology, China's nitrogen-consuming coal consumption is dominated by anthracite coal, accounting for 87% of the nitrogen fertilizer raw coal. As anthracite accounts for only 18% of China's total coal output, the supply of anthracite is very tight throughout the country. With the sharp rise in energy prices, nitrogen fertilizer companies are facing the increasingly severe coal supply situation, but also face the predicament of continuous rising production costs, and most companies have been on the verge of losses.

In this situation, many nitrogen fertilizer companies began to consider the use of new coal gasification furnace for the transformation of raw material technology, in particular the use of pulverized coal pressure gasifiers, new coal-water slurry gasifiers. It is understood that compared with fixed bed coal gasification technology, the new coal gasification technology has advantages in energy conservation and environmental protection. Compared with the conventional atmospheric fixed-bed gasifier, the advanced coal gasification technology can reduce the energy consumption per ton of synthetic ammonia by an average of 0.22 tons of standard coal under the same coal raw materials; when the high temperature reaches 1400°C, the gasification temperature is adopted. In the new coal gasification furnace, organic pollutants will be completely decomposed, and the scope of coal application will be greatly expanded.

However, the investment in the new gasifier is still relatively large compared to the atmospheric fixed bed coal gasifier. Therefore, relevant domestic institutions are developing gasifiers with lower investment. The inventor of the aerospace furnace and the technical director of Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. Lu Zhengyu introduced to the reporter that they are currently developing an overall transformation plan for the 1.0 MPa to 1.5 MPa atmospheric fixed layer to reform the nitrogen fertilizer raw material route. With this solution, there is no need to reconstruct the coal from raw materials to the conversion section. A new gasifier with a diameter of 2.8 meters can save 60% of the investment compared to a pressurized gasifier.
