Oak Park new engine update

Oak Park Fire Department is making great progress in its acquisition of two new HME Ahrens Fox fire engines, which are expected to arrive by mid-October. These units will be built on HME 1871 chassis and feature 3,000-watt Command Lights mounted on the roof of the cabs—providing excellent visibility for firefighters and photographers during nighttime operations. Each engine will be equipped with a 1,500-GPM pump, 500 gallons of water, 20 gallons of Class A foam, and 30 gallons of Class B foam, ensuring they're well-prepared for a wide range of incidents. The department has shared several in-progress photos from the manufacturing process, taken by Battalion Chief Ron Kobyleski. One image shows the officer's side of the body module, ready to be mounted onto the chassis. Another highlights the pump panel, showcasing the advanced equipment that will be installed. Additional photos reveal the cab and chassis being assembled at HME, along with the rear of a body module and an extended chrome front bumper, giving a glimpse into the final design of these new engines. These updates reflect the ongoing efforts of Oak Park FD to modernize its fleet and enhance its emergency response capabilities. With the arrival of these new engines, the department is one step closer to providing even better service to the community.
