US Environmental Protection Agency imposes import restrictions on nine chemicals

China Drying Network News The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently issued a final rule that will impose new import restrictions on nine chemicals that require "pre-manufacture notices (PMNs)."

These chemicals include: (1) tall oil fatty acids with modified fatty acids and polyalcohol amine reactants; (2) amino acids, carboxymethyl, aryl sulfonates, alkali salts; (3) mixed metal borate (4) benzamide, N-[(cyclohexylamine)thione methyl]; (5) aromatic sulfonic acid aminoazo dye salts; (6) iodized, biphenyl-4,4'- Bis-C10-13-branched alkyl derivatives, (OC-6-11)-hexafluorodecanoic acid; (7) alkyl maleimides bicyclic dilute hydrocarbons; (8) mucilage and mud, automotive Film, waste disposal, solid waste. These chemicals are used in asphalt, industrial cleaning solutions, lighting phosphors, epoxy adhesive formulations, cellulosic fabrics, UV release coatings, specialty polymers, and waste disposal.

According to the new rules, those who wish to import, manufacture, or handle these substances for new uses must notify the EPA at least 90 days before the start of the above activities. This notice will give EPA an opportunity to evaluate the intended use of these substances and, if necessary, It is prohibited or restricted before the event begins.

The rule has been effective since January 19, 2013.
