Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Brilliance Auto Group Holdings Co., Ltd. and Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine according to the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls, and decided to recall from December 15th. The following cars, a total of 559,882 vehicles.
Chery will recall some A3, Oriental Son, V5 and QQ6 vehicles produced between March 2005 and December 2013 for a total of 289,773 vehicles; Brilliance will recall some of Zunchi and Junjie, which were produced between January 2006 and December 2011. Coolbao Auto, a total of 238,024 vehicles; Great Wall will recall some of the V80 and Elf cars produced between July 2007 and January 2014, a total of 32,085 vehicles.
Due to the design and manufacture of the parts supplier and the Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., the fuel pump flange return pipe bracket of the vehicle within this recall may be cracked, resulting in fuel leakage and potential safety hazards.
The three companies will replace the improved fuel pump with free vehicles for the above recalls to eliminate safety hazards.
The recall was carried out under the influence of the AQSIQ defect investigation. Since July 2014, in response to the cracking of the fuel pump flange bracket return pipe produced by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has deployed the AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center and the local quality and technical supervision department to United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. The relevant suppliers conducted on-site investigations. The investigation obtained a large amount of technical materials and physical evidence, and the AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center conducted a survey and analysis of the technical materials and physical evidence obtained from the investigation. The survey results show that the fuel pump flange bracket return pipe cracking problem produced by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. may involve multiple automobile producers. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine immediately organized a defect product management center to officially launch a defect investigation for the relevant automobile producers.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine will organize the supervision and evaluation of the scope and recall measures of this recall to effectively protect the personal and property safety of consumers. United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. and producers affected by the faulty fuel pump should continue to investigate the range of possible faulty fuel pumps. If the scope of the recall is found to be inaccurate, the recall should be implemented as soon as possible.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine reminds consumers that in view of the serious problem affecting vehicle safety due to fuel leakage, please contact the producer authorization if there is a gasoline smell in the car or a gasoline drop under the fuel tank before the producer implements the recall. The dealers will overhaul the fuel pump and report the situation through the defect information collection system of the defect inspection center of the AQSIQ.
